Utilizing high alloy aluminum in either forged or billet configurations, all Baer 4 and 6-piston calipers were designed and are manufactured in-house in Phoenix, Arizona. Our T4 (as used in TRACK-4 systems) or variants of our 6P (PRO+13 or PRO+14 systems) are manufactured as conventional two piece calipers. While the 6S (used in EXTREME and EXTREME+ systems) are manufactured from a single piece, 2618 forging.
With three families of calipers to choose from, Baer has the right caliper for the job! While some features are shared throughout the three designs; there are some unique differences that make some caliper designs better suited to a particular environment than others. Our road going calipers for example feature Powder coated finishes for a classic, designer look that makes sure they stand out in a crowd! While our Asphalt Competition and Off-Road Series calipers are finished in a durable hard coat, anodized finish that ensures they will stand up to the toughest environments. Our 6PSC Short Course, Off-Road caliper is even tapped for bolt on debris shields; an exclusive feature that sets this caliper apart in the extreme world of Short Course, Off-Road Racing!
All Baer calipers share several key features:
- All are configured for radial mounting. This allows adaptation to custom projects with greater ease.
- Stainless steel pistons are employed to minimize heat transfer from the pads to the brake fluid.
- A recessed dust and weather seal in bore arrangement is standard on all Baer calipers. All road-going calipers need a debris seal. Since Baer calipers often see the extreme temperatures found on the track, the seal being recessed ensures that the seal itself is never in direct contact with the backing plate of the pad. Experience on the track has taught Baer that a seal which does contact the pad will readily bake and become the very debris the seal is intended to keep out of the caliper bore.
